Exploring Our Roots of Creativity is a groundbreaking introductory course to the concept, practice and magic of Play Alchemy – a term coined by Portia Tung, the founder of The School of Play. Play Alchemy describes the process, tools and techniques for transmuting the seemingly insurmountable challenges we face into positive outcomes so that we can thrive and have fun making a living in a VUCA world.
Having dedicated over 20 years of her professional career in pursuit of the secrets to enabling transformational change in organisations and with individuals – beginning as a software developer, then an Agile Coach before becoming an Executive Coach and Systemic Constellations Facilitator – Portia has rediscovered Play Alchemy through the quintuplet of Play Science, neuroscience, psychology, coaching and Systemic Constellations.

SCHEDULE
This course will take place 17-19 September 2024 at beautiful Ashridge House, Berkhamsted, UK. Ashridge House is one of the sources of inspiration for J.K. Rowling’s Hogwarts school for wizards and witches.
Module 1: Reconnecting to Our Roots of Creativity
We begin this play adventure by exploring fundamental questions such as what is creativity? How do you know you have it? How do you know when you don’t? Where does creativity come from? Where might yours have got lost or become stuck? As part of this module, we will begin by experimenting with ways to loosen the knots that prevent or reduce your flow of creativity.
Module 2: Nourishing Our Roots of Creativity
In this module, we will further explore your primary blockers to creativity and create a sense of spaciousness around them. We will also explore the necessary conditions for you to be creative. By figuring out ways you like to play and create, and ways you don’t, you will be able to identify the resources you need to be creative and ways to harness them for better effect.
Module 3: Deepening Our Roots of Creativity
Once we have reconnected and nourished our roots of creativity, you will get the chance to alchemise the root blockers to your creativity and transmute them into hidden resources to enable you to manifest more creativity when you want and when it matters most.

ABOUT PORTIA TUNG
Portia is a Play Alchemist, Executive & Agile Coach and Systemic Constellations Facilitator. She is dedicated to promoting happier adulthood through lifelong play. By combining her skills with her desire to bring about positive and enduring change, she has stumbled upon a wholesome way of leading she calls Playful Leadership, a manifestation of play alchemy. Based on Portia’s 20+ years in enabling change in organisations and with individuals, it is through play alchemy that we can enable transformational change that is fun, effective and efficient – at work, at home and anywhere we go.
Portia is a popular international speaker and workshop presenter well-known for her creative and energising sessions at Agile conferences. She is also the author of the first ever Agile business novel where you, as the reader, get to determine the outcome of the story The Dream Team Nightmare – Boost Team Productivity Using Agile Techniques.
